Engagement: Jones and Thompson
Terry and Charlotte Jones of Ironton announce the engagement of their daughter, Olivia Lee Jones to Robert Herald Thompson Jr., son of Robert and Brenda Thompson, also of Ironton.
The bride-to-be is a 2001 graduate of Ironton High School and is a human services major at Ohio University. She plans to continue her education in forensic psychology. She is also a secretary at South Point United Methodist Church.
The groom-elect is a 2000 graduate of Ironton High School.
He is employed at Muth Lumber and is a student at Ohio University, pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering.
The couple of will exchange vows Oct. 10, 2010 at South Point United Methodist Church. The couple will reside in Ironton.
Anniversary: Napier
Elmer and Nedra Napier of South Point celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
They were married Feb. 13, 1960 in Wayne W.Va. Mrs. Napier is the former Nedra Sayre.
The couple have four children, Keith (Kelli) Napier, Sandra Hutchinson, Andrea (Troy) Powell (Troy) and Staci Chatterton (Fred Barnhart) all of Jacksonville, Fla.
They also have 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Engagement: Evans and Marcus
Randall C. and Martha Evans wish to announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their granddaughter, Monica Beth Evans, of St. Cloud, Fla., to Barak Marcus, of Kissimmee, Fla.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of Clark B. Evans of Oak Hill and Kimberly Hanes-Evans of South Webster and is also the granddaughter of Ron and Judy Hanes of South Webster.
The family has spent the major part of their married life in Florida.
She is a graduate of UCF and graduated with a double major (micro and molecular biology) and a major in applied music.
She studied in Paris, France between her sophomore and junior years.
She also completed her studies in education and is an honors chemistry teacher at West Orange High School in Winter Garden, Fla.
The groom-elect is also a graduate of UCF and obtained an engineering degree with a major area of computer design. He is working on projects with the Disney Company.
The wedding will be March 27, 2010, and the couple will reside in Winter Garden.
Wedding: Ours and Sowers
Kala L. Ours and Kevin M. Sowers were united in marriage July 31, 2009, in a traditional ceremony at St. Leo Catholic Church at Inwood, W.Va. Father Brian Shoda officated.
The bride is the daughter of Leland and Becky Ours. She is the granddaughter of Jack and Edna Rankin and Kenneth and Loueva Ours all of Crown City. She is a graduate of Fairland High School and earned a bachelor of business administration from Marshall University.
She is a third year law student at West Virginia University College of Law. Upon graduation in May, 2010, she will begin her employment with the law firm of Pullin, Fowler, Flanagan, Brown & Poe in the firms Morgantown office.
The groom is the son of Tom and Becky Sowers of Martinsburg, W.Va.
He is the grandson of the late Mary Sowers. He is a graduate of Hedgesville High School, he earned a bachelor of arts in adult fitness and a master of science in exercise physiology at Marshall University. He is the managing director of the high intensity training center in Morgantown, W.Va.
Dara Ours, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Chelsea Baker was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Seneca Sheppard, Amanda Jo Leblanc, Allison Williams, Jambriel Sowers, and Hope Meadows.
Jeff Sowers, brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Josh and Nate Sowers, also brothers of the groom, Chad Ours, brother of the bride, Dan Ritchey, Jamie Burgess, and Marc Porterfield.
The flower girl was Courtney Burgess and ring bearer was Owen Baker. Program and guest book attendant was Dona Bailey. Dan Mercerurio, soloist, provided musical selections, accompanied by organist Robert Edwards.
The ceremony was followed by a dinner and dance reception at the Holiday Inn of Martinsburg. Rick Rohn was the emcee and DJ for the evening. Guests were served dinner with wedding cake and ice cream, followed by a video presentation prepared by the bride’s brother.
The bride and groom enjoyed a honeymoon at a private cabin in the mountains.
Wedding: Sparks and Gallaher
Lisa Ann Sparks and Damian Gallaher were united in marriage Oct. 10, 2009, at San Giuseppe Church, Favaro, Italy. Don Paolo Boffa officiated at the ceremony.
A civil ceremony was conducted in Biella, Italy prior to the church ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Deborah Sparks Lucas and the late Samuel Joel Sparks.
She is a graduate of Russell High School and Marshall University and employed by The Gallaher Group in Ashland.
The groom is the son of John and Stephanie Gallaher and is the grandson of Lawrence and Phyllis Miller and the late James and Delia Lemon Gallaher. Damian is the great grandson of the late James and Maria Lemon who were married at San Giuseppe in 1904.
He attended St Lawrence Elementary and is a graduate of Russell High School and University of Kentucky College of Law. He is employed at McBrayer, McGinnis, Leslie and Kirkland in Greenup, Ky.
The bride was given in marriage by her brother, Craig Sparks of St. Petersburg, Fla.
The groom was given in marriage by his parents.
Ashley Gallaher Quinn, sister of the groom served as matron of honor. Cara Newsom, cousin of the groom, served as bridesmaid.
Best man was Grayson Gallaher, brother of the groom, of Raleigh, N.C. and groomsman was Tom Hannah of Cincinnati.
A reception for family and townspeople followed in the church courtyard.
A wedding dinner was given at the Sanctuary d’ Oropa for family and friends.
Following the ceremony, the couple honeymooned in Positano, Italy.
The couple reside in Ashland, Ky.
